A month later…and no news….

Hmmm. I expected to return to the blog here all happy and content having finally left the studio flat for a lovely new place full of character. But it was not to be. I don’t know if you’ve read anything recently about the London property market, but it’s a dog eat dog world out there – our vendor pulled out at the 11th hour. Very frustrating indeed! There is another flat we’ve put under offer but I will believe it all when we get to the exchange of contracts bit.

But honestly: if you were selling your flat to a nice young(ish) couple who work in the charity and academic sectors, would you pull out on them the day the sale was supposed to go through at the last minute just so you could put it back on the market and jack up the price? When they had paid all the bills and booked the movers? This is not something civilised humans do. But I guess money clouds judgment, especially with all this property madness in the UK right now, though, from what I understand, it’s no better in Canada right now.

So, I’m still in zone 1, swanning around SW7, which remains one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the world. From our tiny turret I can see the trees rustling with the wind, and when we’re lucky a gigantic brown dog trots down the road across from us. It’s my mission to enjoy the neighbourhood and ride out the uncertainly for a while longer. But meanwhile, fingers crossed.
